DISCOVER SLOVENIA...

Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On Lake Bled, a glacial lake fed by hot springs, the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside medieval castle. In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque facades mix with the 20th-century architecture of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly curving Ljubljanica River.

Slovenia and Slovenian tourism are at the top of the lists of the safest, most sustainable, popular and desirable tourist destinations in Europe and globally. In 2022, Slovenia ranked 39th out of 117 countries in the WEF Travel & Tourism Development Index.

From the beautiful lakes and mountains to the delicious food and friendly people, Slovenia is an ideal destination for travelers seeking adventure. With its safe atmosphere, incredible landscapes, unique activities, and hospitable people, Slovenia should definitely be at the top of everyone's travel wish list.

Slovenia is not an expensive destination by European travel standards, and our travel budget for Slovenia reflected that: groceries and most restaurant meals were less expensive than in the USA, though the prices predictably jumped in destinations that see a lot of tourists.

In only 3 days, you have enough time to explore the capital city of Ljubljana, relax on Lake Bled, check out the Postojna Cave, and visit the coastal town of Piran. Pretty good for such a short visit. If you have more time and aren't just planning to pass through Slovenia, the ideal trip here would be 7 to 10 days.

Spring and fall (especially mid-May–June and Sept–early Oct) offer the best mix of good weather and fewer crowds, though popular spots won't be entirely "untrampled." Late June and early September are nearly as busy as peak season (particularly on weekends), but the rush subsides the farther you get off-season.

Slovenia is known around the world for its gorgeous snow capped mountains, emerald green lakes, intricate cave systems, and winding rivers.

one can spend plenty of money in Slovenia – in every corner of the country, there are enough high-end resorts, wellness centers, hotels, vineyards and restaurants to make any five-star traveler feel at home. But it's also an ideal destination for budget travelers.
